Break in the graphic design business without college?
I'm very passionate about graphic design and is a little dream of mine to get a job to do. I have no formal education. Is it possible for me to enter the design business? I do not know enough HTML and others to do web design, but I'm pretty good with Photoshop and want to master Illustrator, Quark, InDesign, etc. What should I do? How do I achieve my goal without the college?
It is hard and not many people do without some kind of training. The thing is, the graphic design is not easy software to learn. We have learned the principles of what makes a successful design and how to solve visual problems using these principles. A lot of people so if you can master Adobe sufficient to make "cool" graphics, which can be designers with no experience or school. In the industry we call these people "toolers" (Http: / / artbackwash.blogspot.com/2009/06/dont-be-tooler.html). But buying Adobe software and think you're a designer is the same as dropping a great professional in the golf clubs and think they belong to the PGA. If you lack the knowledge of these principles of design and design theory, which will be a sh! Designer tty, and all Adobe is going to do is your sh! t go faster (http://tinyurl.com/WhoNeedsSkill). Take my advice. If you are really interested in being a designer, invest in yourself and your future and the very least, enter into a professional 2 years at a community college. Good luck:)
