Aspiring MBA Marketing student - questions and in schools (UC / CSU / Pepperdine)?
Hello! I sent an earlier question that I am very interested in pursuing an MBA degree in marketing and am taking the first steps to apply to graduate school. It is my goal to be a brand manager or manager marketing - but I know it takes a lot of steps to get there. What are the typical forms of position (s) of an MBA graduate can request after finishing school (and practice)? Can go directly to say, a strategist or a junior or associate mgr. work? I have 5 years experience as a graphic designer (luckily it was all in the brand and most agencies) Secondly, this may be early, because I still have to take the GMAT, but my top choices of schools is to go to Pepperdine, UC Irvine and San Diego, and as a backup, CSU Long Beach. Do you have a big difference to go to a school best level? Or is it better to get big ratings perhaps a lesser institution? Thanks for your advice
If you have both the degree and experience, then you are definitely a good candidate for leadership positions right out of school. As for reputation, yes, it matters. Employers can not always ask to see your grades, but will be in the education section of your resume to see where you went to school. And most talented alumni means better connections for you when you start your job search. That does not mean your career is over if you do not make the top level, but the goal as high as you think you have a shot.
